American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen

The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is to ensure that our favorite companion, the dog, can be a respected member of the community. To receive the CGC certificate, dogs take the 10 item Canine Good Citizen Test.

The CGC evaluation is included as the commencement exercise for the Good Manners Advanced class, but can also be taken by appointment, without attending classes. Please call or e-mail to make arrangements for testing.

Training Philosophy

All of our training is based on positive motivation and the belief that leadership through confidence, gentle guidance, and encouragement is the key to building a lasting friendship with your dog.
Our classes combine traditional "obedience" exercises with leadership exercises and lots of fun, games, and socialization.

Most training is even accomplished "hands off" -- except for petting and loving!

Good Manners Classes

Good Manners Beginners -- this class offers instruction in our basic positive training techniques and the following behaviors: sit, down, stand, stay, come, leave it, and walking on a loose leash. This class also offers insights into dog behavior and socialization with both other dogs and people. Puppies in this class
take the American Kennel Club STAR Puppy test at graduation.

Good Manners Advanced -- this class picks up where the beginner class ends.
This class prepares you and your dog to take the American Kennel Club Canine
Good Citizen
